Make a Fashionable Statement Against Dog Fighting

Tackle Dog Fighting

Womens-Fitted-Shirt

100% Proceeds will be Donated to the PSPCA to Give Pit Bulls a 2nd Chance

It all started over a leisurely lunch with a friend on a Wednesday afternoon. We discussed family, work, and the shocking news of the Philadelphia Eagles signing of the quarterback, Michael Vick.

Then there was the big question. What will we wear to the Philadelphia Eagles games to show our Eagles pride but let it be known that we are outraged by Michael Vick’s previous involvement in pit bull fighting? We are not the only two women who are conflicted. The idea to create a women’s t-shirt emerged. We can condemn the cruelty of dog fighting, be an advocate for the dogs that have no voice and at the same time wear Philadelphia Eagles green.

Calling all men!  Due to demand, we are now proudly offering a traditional t-shirt.  It’s a hot look for men to show their love for the pit bulls and williness to stand up against the inhumane activity of dog fighting.

Michael Vick’s conviction evoked a wave of media attention to the underground pit bull dog fighting culture. Let’s keep the momentum alive and bring about positive change. Unfortunately dog fights are very much real and happening in our own city and suburbs.

100% of the proceeds of the fitted women’s t-shirt and  traditional unisex t-shirt will go directly to the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) for support of their new campaign, 2nd Chance Dogs. The 2nd Chance Dogs are pit bulls rescued from abuse and neglect by our Humane Law Enforcement Officers or found as strays by our Animal Control Officers in the Philadelphia area. The PSPCA provides veterinary care, shelter, love and training for these dogs who will eventually become adopted into caring homes. For more information on the 2nd Chance Dogs campaign, visit www.pspca.org.

The t-shirts cost $20 dollars plus $3.00 for shipping and handling. The women’s form fitted t-shirts run small. If you prefer a loser fit, it’s recommended to order a size up or go with the traditional unisex t-shirt. Save the dogs and support the cause to tackle dog fighting! Buy a shirt today!

I love my shirt! It makes me feel like I am really standing up for a great cause! And, I don’t believe it will ever go out of style! Great work, Tami!

  3. It would be nice to have a mens T-shirt

  4. Ellen Capell said:

Tami, wow this is really great! The shirts ate adorable and the cause is really inspiring. Can’t wait to get mine to wear to the next Eagles party! Congrats on coming this far with it and I am sure many dogs send there gratitude as well!

  5. I’ll buy a shirt IF Michael Vick agrees to support this cause by donating out of his own pocket, double what this effort can bring in. Jeffery Lurie said Mr. Vick needs to prove he is reformed and is genuinely sorry for his actions. I have yet to see anything out of him. What has he done to remedy the dog fighting problem? Money is easyfor you Mr Vick, write a check!
He has an excellent opportunity in this huge city to impact dog fighting. Educate the dog owners, put the programs into place that teach agility, etc. Do something, anything.
I’m happy to buy a shirt, but please know, as an average, lower, middle-class working parent, every dollar out is budgeted and $20.00 could be putting a tank of gas into my 10 y.o. car when Mr Vick can literally blow his nose with it. If we are so willing to make a statement, shouldn’t he?

Hi there! This is a great message! Thanks for spending the time and putting this together! I am going to buy a shirt as soon as I move into my new place – which is in three days. Just FYI – I know ALOT of men who would be into this too. Any possibility for them???

  7. Sandi Lovering said:

Love the cause, love the shirt! Thanks to the PSPCA for their hard efforts in eliminating such a horrific activity. You’ve got tons of supporters out here!

  8. Dan Wantman said:

Great job on the radio this morning. This is a fantastic cause and you are the perfect spokeswoman.

  9. I think the EAGLE’s name should be on the shirt someplace….. is that possible? Lulu

Hi Tami! Great job, I ordered mine and a few friends of mine have as well. Will their be kids/baby sizes? Best of luck!

  11. This is the kind of thing Vick OUGHT to be doing! His efforts so far (while he isn’t even busy playing yet) are weak and focus more on “bad decisions” that negatively effected him, instead of on the dogs. I would really like to hear him talk, with compassion, about the dogs. Thanks for taking positive action Tammi to help them, and focus on THEIR plight!

  12. Donna Hering said:

My dog wants one of these shirts too! We can both wear one when we are out walking near the Nova Care center is south philly where they practice.

  13. Love the shirt, but I don’t personally feel there’s any way to reconcile being an Eagles fan this season morally or ethically. They pursued him almost since the time he was put in prison. I suggest wearing the shirt and rooting for another team! There are many others!

  14. Way to go, Tami. Best of luck.

  15. Just ordered my shirt– can’t wait to wear it! What a wonderful thing you’re doing!!! Well done!! :-)

  16. Do not add anything “Eagles” on the shirt. I think shirt is perfect.

  17. Erin Doody said:

I received my shirt in the mail a couple days ago. It shipped really fast and is adorable. Don’t change a thing! Thanks for making them!

  18. I love the shirts! Could your next project be tackling the stray and feral cat population in South Philly? They face abusive and injustice everyday. I’ve seen a grown man kick a small kitten before in the middle of the street. Also stray and feral kittens are often used as bait for dog fighting. Please contact the rescue if interested.

  19. Thank you so much for this Tami! I’ve always been an Eagle fan but dropped them this year because of Vick. I own 4 incredible Pit Bulls and would give them the world. Thank you for offering this way of supporting both the team and my dogs. :) I will definately be passing this on!!

    Great job Tami!

  21. Can you make T shirts for dogs?

  22. Jan Bastien said:

Really wanted to order a couple of shirts. But since I didn’t want to use paypal, your site wouldn’t take my credit card(???) . I hate paypal!! they are such pain! If you have ever used them ever before in your life, they try and make you use them. That isn’t right!!
Well, I’d still like to get it. If you can can take my credit card without using that overpowering evil paypal, let me know. You have my e-mail

Ami Ceri couldn’t have said it better. My thoughts exactly. We have a pit mix we rescued from a wawa parking lot, she was just running loose, no one even cared if she got hit ny a car.It wasn’t the greatest neighborhood, she was limping a little. We were afraid she would be used as a bait dog or something. She DEDFINATELY doesn’t have a “fighting” bone in her body. Her nickname is “kissy kiss” can you guess why??? he..he.. Michael Vick should put his money where his so called REMORSE is. How much remorse would he or his fiance be feeling right now if he hadn’t gotten caught. The Eagles should ” punish” him for poor performance also. Linda Klersey

  24. ILove the shirt. I will be very proud to wear it.

  25. I met you today up at the festival and just wanted to let you know that I put it all over my facebook and am so glad to be a part of this cause. And i now have something to wear to school on Monday!!

  26. Love the shirt! will wear it proud when I walk my adopted pit bull down the street!

I love my shirt, I threw out all my Eagles paraphanelia and will only wear my Tackle Dog Fighting shirt with pride on game day. I will watch the games but I want the world to know my opinion. I belong to Great Dane Rescue and have told all of our members of this great shirt. I also posted on Philly Dog Rescue.com to their members about it.
Tami, you rock. Thanks for this great shirt!

  28. This is great! I just stumbled across this website while picking up my dogs from daycare. I have a dog that we rescued from a shelter in South Carolina. We don’t know for sure but think he is a pit mix. He was petrified; especially of men when we first got him at approximately 4 months old but has slowly made progress. He is the sweetest dog I ever met. I have become an advocate for pits. Obviously, you have touched on a subject that is near and dear to my heart. I will proudly wear the shirt. Any other way to help?

  29. Christina Dolinger said:

I think this shirt was a great idea. I just got mine and I love it!! There should be more things like this. Pit bulls are wonderful dogs used for the wrong things. Hopefully theses shirts help to spread those feelings. Good Luck in raising the money. :)

  30. This a great cause and I did purchase one of your shirts Now I’m really curious how much of that $20 actually goes to the cause?? I commend you guys for what you are trying to accomplish but it is really missleading when you state 100% of the proceeds are donated.
Make it clear. I think everyone should know how much of that $20 is acuatlly donated after your costs!

This is a very good question. I have donated all my time (well over 150 hours). Two of my friends also donated their services. Dominic Venticinque, D25 Design Studio (D25@comcast.net) designed the logo for the t-shirt and Leigh Maro, Maro Design (lmaro@comcast.net) created the website. I backed this project with my own money, knowing that I’ll achieve the $5,000 donation or more to the PSPCA. The costs include the printing of the actual shirts, web hosting fees, packaging (labels, envelopes, tags for women fitted shirts, and stamp) which comes out to be about $7.00 per shirt. So to answer your question, $13 dollars of the $20 dollars goes to the PSPCA. I’ll be sending a check to the PSPCA in January after the Eagles season. Please check back to the website in January to see how much we raised for them. Thanks again for your support!!

  31. Hello! This is a fantastic idea that will hopefully raise awareness of the plight of both pitbulls and dogs who wind up in a shelter through no fault of their own. Right now at PSPCA they are taking in 3000!!!! animals a month; last week in a 12 hour period they took in 44 dogs most of which were pitties. Pitbulls are generally not the first dog to get adopted because of their maligned reputation. Please realize though that your verbage regading the “PSPCA provides veterinary care, shelter, love and training for these dogs who will eventually become adopted into caring homes” is misleading. Over 70% of the dogs brought in unfortunately do NOT get adopted into caring homes, they get euthanized. We need to stop sugar coating what’s going on in these sheters and realize that, in Philadelphia especially, we have an epidemic that unfortunately is costing thousands of innocent animals their lives. Finally in the U.S. 27,000 companion animals are being euthanized EVERY DAY 7 days a week 365 days a year; man’s best friend is not being treated as such.
I hope your tshirts are a success, I will purchase one…thank you for doing what you can.
PS: It would be great if your ‘adopt a dog’ tag below was linked to PSPCA’s site so people go see all the great dogs for adoption.

  32. I think I will not purchase this shirt, but give directly to the PSPCA. I saw you both at the dog show this past weekend, and was excited by your shirts and buying them on the site.. I have also created my own, signifying my refusal to support the Eagles whatsoever until he is gone…has an Eagle with a slash through it, and titled “until Vick is gone”. So I was disappointed to see that this idea was born out of a desire to still show support for the Eagles….I will show NO support for this organization until he is gone. My love for the dogs and my total hatred for what was done precludes me from doing anything even remotely related to supporting this team. Was so glad to see them lose today.

  33. Hi Jeff-
I respect your comment and passion for the keeping the message alive that dog fighting can not be ignored. The dogs will appreciate your donation to the PSPCA!

  34. Awesome – I was ashamed when I heard Philly signed Vick. Thanks for doing the right thing!

  35. Hi Tami,

It’s amazing how much you accompolished in such a short period of time, but this is what happens when one has the enthusium, love and devotion to a cause that’s dear to one’s heart.
I know the amount of time involved with this project and along with everyone’s support, you really made it happen. We’re all very proud of you for your commitment to such a worthy cause. The PSPCA couldn’t have a better advocate on their side.
